Hungary the talk of Washington

The US Helsinki Committee addressed the Hungarian question at a meeting in Washington on Tuesday, with chairman Senator Benjamin L. Cardin (Democrat) speaking of sweeping constitutional changes that have affected “the independence of judiciary, role of the Constitutional Court, the balance of power and the basic checks-and-balances that were in place to safeguard democracy”.
