Quo vadis, Ungarn?

Unter der Regierung von Viktor Orbán wird Ungarn zusehends von einem Rechtsstaat in ein Rechtsregime verwandelt. So befürchten es Intellektuelle außerhalb Ungarns. Im “Theater der Zeit” haben sie nun einen besorgten Aufruf veröffentlicht. Sie wollen sich nicht damit abfinden, dass Europa offenbar tatenlos dieser bedenklichen Entwicklung zuschaut.

Hoffnungsvoll ließ Ungarn einst das Regime eines undemokratischen Sozialismus hinter sich und nahm eine erfreuliche Entwicklung hin zum demokratischen Rechtsstaat. Die Regierung unter Premier Viktor Orbán droht Rechtsstaat und Demokratie Stück für Stück wieder zu verspielen. Doch nimmt das politische Brüssel die bedenkliche Entwicklung des EU-Mitglieds Ungarn gebührend ernst? Werden Schritte eingeleitet gegenüber der ungarischen Regierung die Einhaltung von Rechtsstaatlichkeit, Demokratie und Menschenrechenten eindringlich anzumahnen? Kaum. Entschlossenes Handel sieht anders aus.

Ön személy szerint, ahogyan azt egy interjú is sugallja, valóban egyetért a Kárpátia szövegeivel és ideológiájával?

Tisztelt Balog Zoltán Miniszter Úr!

“Az én igazi vezéreszmém…, amelynek mióta csak mint zeneszerző magamra találtam, tökéletesen tudatában vagyok; a népek testvérré válásának eszméje, a testvérré válásé minden háborúság és minden viszály ellenére. Ezt az eszmét igyekszem – amennyire erőmből telik – szolgálni zenémben; ezért nem vonom ki magam semmiféle hatás alól, eredjen az szlovák, román, arab vagy bármiféle más forrásból. Csak tiszta, friss és egészséges legyen az a forrás.”

Bartók Béla szavaival egyetértve, abbéli felháborodásunknak kívánunk hangot adni, miszerint a Kárpátia zenekar énekes- basszusgitárosa, a Magyar Gárda hivatalos indulójának szerzője, a szélsőjobboldal emblematikus figurája, a nyíltan uszító (pl: „Petrás a buzikról”) Petrás János a Magyar Arany Érdemkereszt polgári tagozata állami kitüntetésben részesült.

Mivel sajnálattal látjuk, hogy mind a mai napig egyetlenegy hivatalos magyar zenei szervezet sem szólalt fel ez ügyben, ezért széleskörű szakmai összefogást kezdeményezünk. (Ahhoz hasonlót, amely a Himnusz méltó előadásának ügyében március 14-én, a Magyar Szimfonikus Zenekarok Szövetsége, a Magyar Kórusok és Zenekarok Szövetsége, az Erkel Ferenc Társaság, a Magyar Zeneszerzők Egyesülete, a Magyar Zenei Tanács, a Magyar Muzsikus Fórum, a Liszt Ferenc Zeneművészeti Egyetem, a Magyar Zenetudományi és Zenekritikai Társaság, a Magyar Kodály Társaság között jött létre.) Az általunk kezdeményezett összefogás célja a következő: a Miniszter úr kérje Petrás Jánostól a Magyar Arany Érdemkereszt polgári tagozata állami kitüntetésének visszaadását, mint ahogyan ezt Szaniszló Ferenc esetében már megtette.

Újabb feketelistán Magyarország

EU-szankciókat sürget a romák elleni erőszakot eltűrő tagországok ellen az Amnesty International (AI).

Az Európai Uniónak azonnali hatállyal alkalmaznia kell a rendelkezésére álló jelentős szankciólehetőségeket azon tagországok ellen, amelyek nem szállnak szembe a romákat érő diszkriminációval és erőszakcselekményekkel – áll az Amnesty International csütörtökön Londonban ismertetett állásfoglalásában. A jelentés többek között Magyarország kapcsán a romák ellen 2008 és 2012 között elkövetett súlyos erőszakcselekményekre utal.

A világ legnagyobb emberi jogi szervezete a közelgő Nemzetközi Roma Nap alkalmából 12 oldalas elemzést állított össze az EU roma lakosságának helyzetéről. Megállapítja, hogy az unió becslések szerint hatmilliós lélekszámú roma közösségének életminősége szinte minden humán fejlettségi mérőszám alapján messze elmarad az országos átlagoktól. Az AI adatai szerint az európai romák 80 százalékát fenyegeti szegénység, és a fiatal roma felnőtteknek mindössze a hetede fejezi be középiskolai tanulmányait.

Hungary is entrenching the criminalization of homelessness – UN experts on poverty and housing

GENEVA (3 April 2013) – Two United Nations Special Rapporteurs on extreme poverty and on adequate housing criticized today a recent amendment to the Hungarian Fundamental Law that authorizes national and municipal legislation to outlaw sleeping in public spaces.

The human rights experts urged the Hungarian Government to retract this newly adopted amendment, in line with the Constitutional Court’s decision to decriminalize homelessness and Hungary’s international obligations, and expressed their concern about a “rushed amendment process, which left no time for public consultation.”

“Through this amendment, the Hungarian Parliament institutionalizes the criminalization of homelessness and enshrines discrimination against and stigmatization of homeless persons in the Constitution,” said the Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, Magdalena Sepúlveda.

“Such legislation will have a disproportionate impact on persons living in poverty in general and on homeless persons in particular,” Ms. Sepúlveda said. “This will not only impede the enjoyment of human rights of homeless persons, but will also promote prejudice towards people living in poverty and homeless persons for generations to come.”

The Special Rapporteur on adequate housing, Raquel Rolnik, warned that “outlawing rough sleeping in the context of limited availability of housing solutions for homeless persons and low-income households is contrary to Hungary’s international human rights obligations of equality and non-discrimination.”

What on earth is this ignorant nonsense being spread about Hungary?

A message for western Europe’s hysterical media – Hungary knows what a dictator looks like, and Viktor Orbán is not one

What, I wonder, would be the reaction if a Hungarian who had no English, who had never visited the country, were to write an editorial savaging the United Kingdom for not being a real democracy as it has no proper constitution, decrying that the head of state is the result of a coitus, not an election, and the little freedom of speech left is being destroyed by David Cameron through a royal charter (a royal charter, not even the fig leaf of a law, I mean how fascistic and anachronistic can you get?)

This editorial would probably go viral to universal hilarity. Yet it is precisely this level of ignorant nonsense and condescension that has been directed at Hungary over the past year. The word hysteria is much abused, but I can’t come up with a more apt term to describe most of the media coverage regarding Hungary, particularly in Germany and France.

The focus of this turbulence is the current prime minister, Viktor Orbán. He won the last election with a landslide almost impossible in a democracy. The left (in Hungary the left really isn’t the left, but the former communists who were as Marxist as Al Capone) were completely broken and so they have gone abroad to create an utterly distorted picture of the country.

Weg von der Straße

Ungarns Rechtskonservative wollen Obdachlosen in Asyle zwangseinweisen und so vor Kälte schützen. Kritiker nennen das Heuchelei.

An Pathos mangelt es auf beiden Seiten nicht. „Wir sind Menschen“, steht auf den Transparenten einer Organisation mit dem Namen „Die Stadt gehört allen“. Ihre Mitglieder demonstrieren gegen das, was sie Kriminalisierung der Armut nennen. Mit einer Verfassungsänderung vor zwei Wochen hat Ungarns rechte Parlamentsmehrheit das „Wohnen im Freien“ – und damit die Obdachlosigkeit – wieder unter Strafe gestellt. Das Gesetz sei Teil seines „Kampfes gegen die Kälte“ behauptet ebenso pathetisch Regierungschef Viktor Orban. Das soll heißen: Die Wohnungslosen sollen in die Notasyle gehen. Dort will nämlich ein Teil von ihnen partout nicht hin. Und da wird der Staat aktiv und zwingt sie quasi zu ihrem Glück.

Hungary is no longer a democracy

It is now a fact: Hungary is no longer a democracy.

President János Áder has just signed the implementation decrees for new constitutional reforms that wipe out what was left of opposition forces against the government.

More particularly, the Constitutional Court is no longer allowed to give its opinion about the content of laws and to refer to its own case-law – which results in the loss of almost all monitoring power on the legislature and the executive.

This meticulous destruction of democracy and its values – whose starting point was the landslide election of Fidesz in 2010 – has taken place over months and months, under everybody’s eyes.

The attack was clear and continuous: crippling restriction of the freedom of the press, political direction of the Central Bank, inclusion in the Constitution of Christian religious references and of the “social utility” of individuals as a necessary condition for the enforcement of social rights, deletion of the word “Republic” in the same Constitution to define the country’s political system, condemnation of homosexuality, criminalisation of the homeless, attacks against women’s rights, impunity afforded to perpetrators of racist murders, the strengthening of a virulent anti-Semitism . . .
