The Hungarian State hand over the ownership of the Műcsarnok/Kunsthalle and the Vigadó to the MMA

Budapest, Thursday, 22 November 2012 (MTI) – Effective 1 January 2013, the
Hungarian state has handed over ownership of the Műcsarnok/Kunsthalle and
the Vigadó to the Hungarian Academy of Arts (MMA). The MMA can delegate
members to other art bodies, as well, and can adjudicate the National Artist
award – the government decided at its session on Wednesday.

The maintainer of Műcsarnok Nonprofit Kft., which operates the Műcsarnok/
Kunsthalle, remains the Human Resources Ministry (Emmi); however, the MMA
President has the right to consent on its operation – the State Secretary for
Culture told the MTI on Thursday.

László L. Simon announced that Emmi and the MMA will audit the current
financing structures of culture until the end of October 2013, especially the
sources of the National Cultural Fund, the National Film Fund, the Bethlen Gábor
Fund and the National Fund for Cultural Co-operation, as well as the application
resources of the Media Service Support and the Asset Management Fund.
