Près de 4.000 personnes se sont rassemblées dimanche 17 mars à Budapest à l’appel de l’organisation Milla (Un million pour la liberté de la presse) pour protester contre le gouvernement de centre-droit du Premier ministre conservateur Viktor Orban. En cause, une 4ème modification de la nouvelle constitution.
Als Hauptorganisator der Kundgebung trat die Bürgerrechtsbewegung Milla auf, die sich im Kampf um den Erhalt der Pressefreiheit formiert hatte. Seit Tagen gibt es im In- und Ausland heftige Proteste gegen die Beschlüsse des ungarischen Parlaments für einschneidende Verfassungsänderungen.

A szervezők, az úgynevezett erdélyi ellenzéki pártok (amelyek parlamenti mandátummal nem rendelkeznek, a helyi önkormányzatokban is csak kis arányban kaptak megbízást, politikai értelemben tehát alig léteznek) és szervezetek ragaszkodtak a március 10-i dátumhoz, az RMDSZ pedig március 15-höz, mint bármiféle közösségi megmozdulás lehetséges és elfogadható idejéhez. Már csak ezért sem lehetett szó közös felvonulásról. De a dátumvita természetesen többről és másról szól, mint időmegjelölésről.
President of the Republic János Adér met German Chanc-ellor Angela Merkel on Tuesday during a two-day visit to Berlin where she criticised the Fourth Amendment to Hungary’s new Constitution pushed through by the ruling Fidesz party the previous day despite calls for a reconsideration from the EU, Council of Europe and civil and human rights organisations.
Merkel told Áder that Hungary should take seriously the concerns expressed by European partners and friends, a German government spokesman said.
Earlier Áder had met Germany’s Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle for what the latter’s office described as an “open and at times contentious exchange of views”. Westerwelle is one of four EU foreign ministers that recently called for new sanctions to be made available to put pressure on member states who fail to abide by European law and democratic principles (see analysis on the bottom of page 2). Meanwhile, the speaker of the Bavarian parliament, Barbara Stamm, cancelled in protest a scheduled meeting with her Hungarian counterpart, Fidesz politician László Kövér.
The Un ited Nations’ human rights office has added its voice to international criticism of Hungary‘s constitutional reforms, despite the insistence of prime minister Viktor Orban that they do not endanger to his country’s democracy.
Hungary’s parliament, dominated by Mr Orban’s centre-right Fidesz party, this week approved a controversial fourth amendment to a constitution that it introduced only last year.
